Sunrise has thrown its support behind the Coggan family’s bid to raise funds for the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, saying it is a strong and positive story to come out of the bush.
The Coggan family say everyone is invited to join the fun as Sunrise ventures west for their Guinness World Record attempt to plant the largest paddock of wheat in 24 hours.
From a paddock at the Coggan’s Meandarra district property ‘Enarra’, Grant Denyer will host a series of live crosses to Mel and Kochie in the Sunrise studios between 6am and 8:30am on Wednesday the 11th of June.
As the former host of Channel 7’s Guinness World Records program its seems only fitting that Grant Denyer is there to kick off the Coggans world record attempt. But Phillip Coggan says they still can’t be sure exactly when they will start. “It just depends on what the weather brings but it’s looking good so far.”
The Guinness World Record Attempt is John Coggan’s way of giving back to the people who saved his life during a heart transplant three years ago.
In partnership with sponsors, John Deere, Chesterfield Australia, Landmark, Rabobank, Simplicity Australia, McIntosh and Sons, Alands Chartered Accounts and Multi Farming Systems, the Coggans are using the record attempt to raise funds for research being undertaken by the Critical Care Research Group.
“It’s cutting edge research which will help save the lives more transplant patients,” says Mr Coggan.
His daughter in law, Cindy Coggan, says everyone is invited to join them in their paddock for the big Sunrise breakfast. “It’s not everyday one of Australia's biggest stars comes out this way.”
Grant Denyer has gained a loyal following on the small screen because he has tried just about everything from wining Dancing with the Stars to hosting Australia’s Got Talent and It Takes Two.
The Coggans are preparing to let him into the cab of their 530 horse power 9630T John Deere tractor. Known as a V8 super car driver, they are a little worried Grant Denyer might find the pace a bit slow.
Phillip Coggan grins. “It’ll be fast for us. For 24 hours we’ll be working flat. I’m confident our planting rig won’t let us down and we’ll be making history for a good cause.” |
